Allegany Historical Society Museum Week Schedule
The Allegany County Historical Society is pleased to deliver some of our popular secret sauce during Mountain Maryland’s 2025 Museum Week. Both Museum Week weekends start with a magical Friday walk-in house tour in Cumberland’s magnificent Washington Street – first Friday at the 1867 Gordon Roberts Mansion and the second Friday at 1911 F. Whiting House, home to the world class collections of Brooke and Anne Whiting.
Both Saturday’s will feature an ACHS “History Huddle” at our 1845 History Discovery Center on North Mechanic Street. This handsome firehouse is on the National Register of Historic Places and hosts relaxed discussions about local history topic, including Local Firefighting and Local Brewing during Museum Week.

No reservations needed for walk up house tours of an 1867 Second Empire mansion renovated to the Gilded Age.
Note: The building is scheduled for major HVAC installation and may be without air conditioning.

Author and local firefighting historian Dick DeVore will lead a lively discussion that begins in the early 1800s.
